So, just to recap…. Wednesday, after my colonoscopy, the doctor told me I have both diverticulitis and signs of colitis. The good news there is that they are mild cases right now and as long as I start to take my health more seriously, I should be ok. The doctor told me to go on a high fiber diet….so that is my next dietary goal for a while. I slept all day Wednesday after the colonoscopy…the anesthesia made me so groggy. Anyway, the doctor wanted to review my stomach as well. So, I went to have an upper endoscopy procedure this morning. They completely knocked me out for this one because they had to shove a big tube down my throat. The results were good, they found nothing unusual about my stomach.
Yesterday, the doctor had me take a blood test to rule out irritable bowel disease and crohn’s disease. The blood test will confirm if I have either of these. The test results for this test take longer and I won’t find out the results for about a 7 days. The doctor now wants to check out my small intestines (which is the only part of my digestive system that they have not researched yet). This will happen next Thursday. I will have to swallow a small camera that will take thousands of photos of my intestines as it works it’s way down for 8 hours….that should be interesting.
Anemia update: I will have my IUD insertion on my next menstrual cycle. Evidently it is more desirable to insert it during that time of the month. So, my IUD insertion is rescheduled to May 6.
