This morning I woke up feeling the need to reconnect with something in my past. When I lived in Aurora Colorado (very close to Denver) back in 1990 – 1994, I used to go to this wonderful church. A fellow Air Force buddy Eban knew invited us to attend one day and we went. I was blown away when I saw how big the church was, they had a few thousand people attending every week. Then I noticed how ethically diverse everyone was that were attending. There was no one skin colour that dominated the congregation. This really appealed to me, it made me feel more at home. We always felt very welcomed there. Eban really took to the church and even became a leader in one of the weekly group sessions. We meet the Pastor and began to know him on a first name basis. I preferred to take the less social approach at the church and attended on Sundays and some Wednesday nights. But Eban went to town so to speak and became very active in the church.
I went to their website just now and they sure have grown. They have about 12,000 people attending every Sunday now. Suppose I will always feel connected to this church as one of my favorites. One day, soon after we had joined, we were talking with the nice old religious lady that lived right below us in our apartment building. It turns out that that she was Pastor Dennis’s Aunt. I thought, wow what a small world and then felt even more connected with the church. I used to really like her. Her name was Thelma and she would invite me into her apartment and we would have tea, cookies and conversation. She lived alone and seemed to really like it. I can remember Eban telling me that one day when I was at the mall working and he was home, that the city sirens went off suddenly. We heard these fairly regularly and they are very loud warning sirens for an approaching tornado. We lived on the top floor which is not that safe in a tornado. So, Eban went knocking on Thelma’s door to seek shelter from the tornado. Thelma ran outside and started shouting at the tornado, basically calling out the devil in it and the swirling clouds ended up not forming that well and dispersed. Speaking of tornadoes, one day I will have to tell everyone of the tornado that did land at the Air Force base that Eban had to literally run from to save his life.
Anyway, here is a link to Heritage Christian Center’s website if you would like to know more about the church we used to go to in Colorado.
Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Today has not been the best of days…
I started off the day with a meeting with my manager and got some not so good news about our company’s restructure that I can not really talk about, so don’t ask.
Then I got a call from someone I did not want to hear from. They were basically gloating about the higher position within the company they recently acquired. They were seriously trying to take away some of my personal power but I did not let them.
And to top it off, during our afternoon tea (which is sharply at 3:00 by the way), I chipped a tooth! Ouch!!!!!!!!! This has never happened to me before, hence I am freaking out a little. I had already taken a couple of sips of my jasmine green tea and decided I wanted to eat the Snickers bar I had in my desk drawer. Well, as I was biting into my second bite…. I bite into a huge, unexpected, VERY hard peanut and instantly a piece of one of my back teeth chipped right off!!!! I spit the bite out into a napkin and ran to the bathroom. A few minutes later, my cubicle neighbor noticed something was wrong with me and he asked if I was ok. I told him what happened. Then another neighbor said that her mother was a dentist and that I could make an appointment straight away at her office. So, tomorrow I am off to the dentist and I hope I don’t use up everything in my bank account……..dentists here are very expensive. I have to pay completely out of pocket with no discounts. Just the freakin’ check up is

If you like the Blues…. as in the music, you have got to go listen to some incredible Blues music on Eban’s site. He has changed his Monday Rock Mix show to Blue Monday from now on. I am listening to his first show right now and it is fabulous. The show is so fitting for a Monday. As we head back to work from the weekend, typically it is a Blue Monday anyway, so why not listen to Blues music? It sure is helping me ease back into the work week, thanks Eban!
Go to this link right now to hear the first episode of Blue Monday!
By the way, to all of you who don’t normally listen to Eban’s shows because they are predominately rock music…..he now has 3 shows a week that are not rock. He has Blue Monday (Blues music), Coffee House Wednesday (fun, enlightening music) and Classic Sundays which he calls RfL Turns Classic (classical music). So there are no excuses. There is something for everyone….go now and listen to a show. His shows are a great way to escape reality with all the top notch and unforgettable music he plays. Plus his commentary is awesome, you may just learn something or at least have a good laugh!
Speaking of going back to work from the weekend on this first Blue Monday, I am going to have a ridiculously busy week. I am the only person on the Visual team right now and we usually have 3 of us! I am also fast approaching my holiday, which starts May 8th and lasts for 2 weeks. I have an enormous amount of work to do before then, so wish me some luck…I need it!
Oh, I can see it now…..in 2 weeks I will be walking the beach on a bright sunny day wearing my favorite green shirt and blue jeans with my martini in hand…..can’t wait!

Am having a fairly productive day so far…I’ve had a nice and proper ‘lie in’ (meaning I did not get out of bed until 10:30), then I ate a bowl of cheerios, then I had a nice big cup of coffee, then I watched an episode of Charmed that I taped last night, then I had a nice shower, then I read a magazine, then I painted my nails with my nearly nude colour, then I cooked some cabbage, Chinese mushroom and noodle soup for lunch and now I am listening to Eban’s classical music show as I am writing this. Soon though, I will need to head off to the office for a little while. Have some work to do that cannot wait unfortunately.
I was thinking earlier that I may also give myself a pedicure, but my feet are doing pretty good though….I may a least soak my feet in some hot water with tea tree oil because that always feels so good! Oh, that reminds me….Eban mentioned a few days ago that he heard people in Japan have a new way of taking care of their feet. Evidently there is a certain species of fish that love to eat you dry, rough, dead skin on your feet! When he told me this, I actually thought for a moment that that would be cool…I mean, the fish would do all the work, not you….what more could you ask for? Also, according to the news article, it doesn’t hurt and even feels good because while the fish are eating your dead skin, it kind of tickles a bit. It still sounds kind of gross though, don’t think I will ever do it if I go to Japan.
Oh my goodness, I actually just stopped writing this post for a moment to go find the story on the web. Well, I can say now that I have seen some photos that if I do ever go to Japan, I most certainly will not let fish eat my dead foot skin….eeewwwww….the pics were so gross. If you dare here is the link to the story (remember to click for all 5 photos).
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday…

Tom Cruise wants to eat his baby’s placenta….eewww. He evidently thinks it is a great opportunity to eat something very nutritious. *clears throat* Excuse me, but how about trying out some broccoli instead? I know we should all be eating a wide variety of nutrients, but oh my God….a placenta? Isn’t that one step away from cannibalism? Anyway, if this story is true, I am really starting to think the guy is truly crazy and not just trying to stay ranked #1 as the most talked about crazy celebrity.
Here are a couple of sources:
