It’s 39 degrees right now….and my hands, my feet, my head, my legs, my arm….basically my whole body is cold and shivering. I am wearing leg warmers (I can be so 80’s at times) and a cute pink cotton shawl along with a thick long sleeve fleece shirt and I am still cold! It’s supposed to dip below freezing tonight….brrrrr. Eban is so cute, he is wearing a knit snugly cap with his long wool scarf wrapped around his neck.

You may be thinking, why we just don’t turn on the central heat? Well, it’s not that easy here. We have a huge 3 bedroom apartment and to run the central heating (which is radiators….not vented hot air) would cost us a small fortune. The boiler would have to be on 24 / 7 and that would be so expensive! Anyway…..don’t worry we do have a space heater for later tonight when the temperature drops below freezing….oh and we also have the excellent warming source of body heat via snuggling. Oh, and speaking of snuggling….I will be snuggled up soon with my hubby on the sofa. We are watching a pay-per-view movie tonight…and it may get scary. Even though the reviews of The Ring Two are pretty weak, I really feel like watching it tonight. It’s Saturday night for goodness sake…which is “date night”…which is also “watch a movie you’ve never seen that is scary night” right?

At least I can say that if I do get scared, I have my adorable and very cuddly Eban to snuggle up with….

Hope you all have a nice Saturday night whatever you decide to do!

This one’s for you Mama. I enjoyed talking to you! Here is a photo of one of my favorite drinks…oh and one of my favorite humans. I know it well, Eban knows it well, Angel (obviously) and Pat know it well…..and now you too can know it well. I have so many fond memories of drinking this liquor while living in Germany. I used to drink it with my work colleagues (usually while we were working)…..don’t worry, it was socially accepted there….they even had a beer vending machine in our employee break room! I also remember dancing around listening to Leonard Cohen The Future while having a glass of Apfel Korn.

It truly is fantastic straight up with just a couple of ice cubes in a whiskey glass. I hope Doornacks have it, if not, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding it in a large liquor store there. If Doornacks do not have it and you can’t find it at a store, you can buy it at online at winespecialist.com or by clicking on the photo.

Hope you find it and enjoy it……oh and by the way, take a sip for me please!

A big thanks to Angel for so beautifully displaying your smile and the bottle of Apfel Korn! Mama wanted to know what Apfel Korn looked liked….

Cheers!

Well, you never know when you’ll meet a new friend. Check out this story about a snake who normally eats rodents for dinner. However, when given his live dinner, the snake choose to not eat the little guy and now they are friends. Awwww……this story says a lot. You never know who your next friend is going to be. You never know when it will be your lucky day when faced with certain death. Life will always find a way to surprise you. Even though you may normally find wood chips the coziest surface to sleep on, suddenly a snakes backside is really comfty…..meaning…home is where you make it and moving can be a positive. It’s better to miss a meal every now and then in order to gain a companion. Opposites do attract. Okay, I am starting to get carried away, you get the picture.

Hey you all……..just had to tell everyone that Eban is cooking a spicy Thai red curry with prawns (sorry, that’s shrimp for my lovely family in LA and TX). It is made with red curry paste, real coconut milk, king prawns, fresh garlic, spinach, onions, red pepper and green chilies and is served over rice. He did a similar dish last week with chicken strips but tonight it is going to be fragrant prawns. Anyway, I can hear him now chopping away the vegetables…he really is an incredible cook. I love you honey!!!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. The weather today was fabulous….super sunny all day with a high of 48 and a low of 33. Eban and I spent half the day walking around town. We got an early start and went to Tesco for some groceries, then walked to a convenient store to top up our electricity (we don’t get a bill, it’s pay as you go with a key), then we went to the town museum and saw some wonderful hand made purses in their rotating exhibit. All in all, a nice morning and afternoon…and so far a nice evening.

We have just finished watching King Kong (the original 1930’s version) about 10 minutes ago. That was the first time I have ever seen it. It really was a superb film….I tried my best to put myself in that era and watch the film with fresh, naive eyes. We bought the movie as it was ridiculously cheap at Blockbuster a couple of weeks ago and I am happy we did. I haven’t seen the latest version of King Kong, but it is playing across the street from us at the local theatre. Maybe next weekend we’ll go see it.

I sure hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Pat…..can’t help but think of you…hope you are not too bored without Angel……hang in there!

Cheers!

I’ve been sick the last couple of days. Sunday, a massive head cold kicked in and basically I’ve been suffering since. The last couple of nights I have slept alone without my man. Well, actually I haven’t slept much because it is damn near impossible to sleep with all the stupid symptoms I had. Eban slept on the sofa cushions in the living room (thanks honey as I needed the bed) to avoid my germs. I sure hope he doesn’t acquire the same illness I had. I’ve been out of work the last two days. Tried my best to take it easy today so that it doesn’t come back full swing. The worst is over for me though, so I am relieved about that. Am looking forward to a more normal night’s slept tonight. The last couple of nights I have been sleeping upright to allow the cold to continue to ‘drain’ versus just hanging out in my head. Ewwww…I know, that was a bit gross. Maybe all the gross scenes in Nip Tuck is starting to wear off on me…..lol. Anyway, on to something different now.

Here is a photo of Eban and I having lunch at our favorite Thai restaurant. It’s from a couple of weeks ago. We went there to celebrate his birthday. We had a fabulous spicy Thai red chicken curry with a bottle of dry white wine. Both were incredibly tasty. The photo is not the best quality as I took it with my cell phone, but you get the picture….

Am listening to Eban’s show from today. It’s Coffee House Wednesday, the day he plays smooth, mindful music. I’ve got to admit Wednesday is one of my favorite days of the week because of the Coffee House style of music he plays. It does remind me of hanging around in Starbuck’s drinking coffee with Eban and Angel so many, many times in Texas. I remember the many life-changing conversations we would all have. We would talk about our dreams, our career goals, our fitness goals, our bi-lingual goals, we would reminisce about times in Colorado, we would gossip about what was happening in our families lives (yes, that includes all of you….from the matriarchs down to the newest born) and anything else that were on our minds at the time. It also reminds me of the lovely times I had at coffee houses in California with Eban. So, I guess I just want to thank you Eban for playing such ambient music on Wednesdays, the music is very inspiring….just the thing to listen to on hump day.
