I want to play!

Okay, I have not done a post in a few days. I guess I am experiencing my first “writer’s block” with my website. Geez, and I haven’t even had my website up for 30 days yet. Anyway, I was just talking with my husband about my writer’s block and he said just have fun and play with it. I thought to myself “play”? I haven’t played since I was a little girl. Actually, when I was little I used to play all the time especially with my sister. I have lots of memories of playing….here were some of my favorite things to do (many of which involved Angel):
*2-square in front of the house using the natural cracks in the cement driveway as boundaries
* hop scotch in front of the house, again using the cement driveway
* horse shoes in the front yard
* cricket in the front yard
* mindlessly doing cart wheels over and over again
* mindlessly rolling around the grass
* looking for 4 – leaf clovers to put in my bible
* making flower necklaces from the little white flowers in the clover patches
* board and card games – aggravation, Yahtzee, uno, operation, monopoly, old maid, go fish
* riding my bike up and down the street until the first star appeared so that I could wish upon it
* having leaf and stick races in the ditch after a heavy rain
* playing “school” in my room
* having my body suspended upside down over the toilet seat pretending I will be flushed down with the water….no wait that was not me playing, that was my older brothers playing

Those are but a few of the things I did when I was little to play. Am sure that Angel would have more to add. It’s funny but when you are little you do not really think of it as playing. It’s just things you do to keep yourself busy. I know I am not a kid anymore but I would like to have some more fun and “play” again. Will start to think of some things to do to play a little each day.

Looking forward to the weekend!

When I get off of work today, my 2-day weekend starts. I know it’s only 2 days but I intend to make the best of it. One can do a lot in 2 days and here are few things I will be doing this weekend:
* organize my wardrobe
* read another chapter or two of my book
* spend time outside in the sun with Eban (at the park and at the beach)
* watch one really good movie (humm…..any ideas???) with a bowl of popcorn
* watch 3 – 4 episodes of Charmed
* make some ice tea with lemon and enjoy it even though it will probably turn out cloudy as I have no Lipton cold brew here
* eat nothing but healthy, home-cooked meals all weekend
* have my first relaxing soak in the bath since before my surgery with a glass of wine
* spend lots of quality time with my honey

One of the things I will not be doing is going to my sister’s wedding. It was just too soon after my surgery to go on a long flight. Darlene, if you are reading this, I wish you all the best in your new life!!! Sorry I won’t be there in person, but please know I am always thinking of you….Love you!!

Longest day of the year!

Today is the summer solstice and that means it is going to be a very long day (literally).

What am I going to do on the longest day of the year? Well, for starters I am going to work. But it’s all good because the sun in England will be out in full for over 16 hours today (sunrise 4:48 am ~ sunset 9:19 pm BST). It has been completely dark at night lately around 10:00 pm so I think tonight the sun’s light will not disappear till around 11:00 pm. Am thinking after work today I will go to the beach and to the park to enjoy the nice weather that is expected today. Afterwards, I will get to enjoy a wonderful summer dinner of roast lamb that Eban is cooking today (yummy).
